I like to scrap cans , radiators , copper and wire , but you will never see me scrap a Computer Part . ISA Cards are Legacy 16 bit stuff are not going to be here for future generations unless we keep them safe , a sound card makes sound , it's only worth .18 cents in scrap a person who wants a sound card might pay $10.00 or more for it , I like having 40 shoe boxes of Ram . I will always find a computer to put them back into , I am sick & near death , I,m offered $11.00 a pound right now , I will not sell , the guy wants to Scrap it , that takes away from folks in the future , please if your going to Scrap stuff - Don't Scrap Computer Parts , every year Linux creates 20 operating systems , older Mac , Unix & Windows Systems will also run on older Computers - Please Save Parts & Computers for people to Use - As a serious collector, I follow the Computer Collector's Code of Conduct (CCCC).
The CCCC is listed at theoldcomputer.com for your reference, You may link to this page to accept the CCCC:
I will do my best to find a home for any classic or unwanted computer.
I will return or destroy any personal or commercially sensitive data I find on a machine I acquire, and will keep it in the strictest confidence, should I find it necessary to view it.
I will aid users in the decomissioning of their machines, should they require assistance.
I will respect active software and publication copyrights.
I will, whenever possible, repair the computers in my collection and maintain them in working order, and will assist others in doing the same, to the best of my ability. I will actively encourage the repair, maintenance, and use of older computers, in preference to the irreversable alteration of machines and parts for non-computer applications.
I will actively promote the exchange of computers, parts, and information among collectors, and will refrain from hoarding multiple examples of any item.
I will actively promote ethical collecting .
Think Hard About it & Thank You ! QC
every single computer is different & many games were written for each one , then each year Linux & others make 30 or more OS's for 8-16-32 & 64 bit computers -- look up the computer collectors code of conduct !
