Debra Jeanne Palfrey, the D.C. madam has spawned this debate. Some say that legalizing it would help with the abuse of women. Some disagree. What do YOU think? ???qc

Even though I don't agree with it, and is NOT something that I would ever do, I think it should be legalized, simply because it is their body, and is their choice.
There are a lot of people who place a high importance on attraction. Some women won't look twice at a guy unless they have a lot of money, or are the same size as Ron Jeremy, just like some men won't look twice at a woman unless they looked like they were clipped from a Playboy.. and conversely, there are some that prefer the opposite but they are in the minority.
The majority of ads out there have fit, and attractive people.. if the majority of American's are overweight, then why aren't there more overweight people in porn? The same applies for tv, movies, magazines, and books as well. If a person didn't know any better, they'd think that sex was only for attractive people.
There are also those who are deemed as unattractive by the rest of society, for whatever reason, but are constantly over looked, and sadly enough these people also use the services of a prostitute thinking that they will never get any companionship, or will ever be in a relationship, unless they pay for it.
Yes it is dangerous, they get raped, killed, robbed, and beaten. The people that did these things to them are still at large, because they know that the prostitute they did that to will never tell them simply because they themselves would be thrown in jail. This is also the reason they don't go to the hospital, and get medical treatment, and as a result, what ever they have now, eventually gets worse, and it gets spread to others.
However dangerous, disgusting, or degrading prostitution is, to the woman and to the "John," it is still their choice, and we have no right to push our beliefs and opinions onto another person.
Making it illegal will only increase the number of those doing it illegally. Prostitution is illegal here, and yet, there are escort services, WITH newspaper ads, and prostitutes still walk the streets. So it being illegal isn't doing much for the business, except increasing the amount of those doing it, and the number of those with an STD from having sex with a prostitute.

If a person wants to have sex and pay for it who is it really hurting? If it were legalized this would also bring in more revenue for the state. They could require liscensing and have to pay taxes. Maybe they should include a chart on charges for the type of service. Government could hire people to see if the charges are proper
