A good story about being poor. I dunno QC if theres any? Maybe this one. I have read this story. The Glass Castle A Memoir by Jeannette Walls From the Jacket
Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and above all, how to embrace life fearlessly. Rose Mary, who painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family, called herself an "excitement addict." Cooking a meal that would be consumed in fifteen minutes had no appeal when she could make a painting that might last forever.
Later, when the money ran out, or the romance of the wandering life faded, the Walls retreated to the dismal West Virginia mining town -- and the family -- Rex Walls had done everything he could to escape. He drank. He stole the grocery money and disappeared for days. As the dysfunction of the family escalated, Jeannette and her brother and sisters had to fend for themselves, supporting one another as they weathered their parents' betrayals and, finally, found the resources and will to leave home.
What is so astonishing about Jeannette Walls is not just that she had the guts and tenacity and intelligence to get out, but that she describes her parents with such deep affection and generosity. Hers is a story of triumph against all odds, but also a tender, moving tale of unconditional love in a family that despite its profound flaws gave her the fiery determination to carve out a successful life on her own terms.
For two decades, Jeannette Walls hid her roots. Now she tells her own story

These day in Quebec the dentist are on strike and are refusing to take children under 10 and people on social assitance who have there dentist bills paid by the goverment. Because the goverment only pays 60 0/0 of the cost and the dentist want 75 0/0 . So my hubby has a appointment to get 4 teeth pulled at a cost of 180.00 dollars. So we have to get our bank books marked up to date, get a price assement from the dentist, a written contract on how many teeth are going to be pulled. Bring that to the welfare office. Its all a bunch of B.S. if you ask me and I don't know why we have to go threw so much red tape when they allready know how much money we have? Anyways we just going to go to the dentist and instead of photocopy of our butts will just pay the bill in shots + interest.

We have a lot here in North America even if we whine about paying bills and don`t have enough. live on the streets and find a quarter and know the happiness to find a bag left on the wdw sill of a store at a bus stop and look inside and there is a big mangos thats happiness when that is all you had that day to eat.believe me I know.

Poverty is when you can't afford to buy yourself what you need, when you don't have the basic necessity in life: food, shelter and clothing. When you can't do nothing but stare and envy those people around you who are a lot more fortunate than you are. That's poverty.
Poverty is indeed horrible but if a poor person strives hard to be better and with good luck on his side, I guess his world will change.
