A 8.5 earthquake occurred in Bio-Bio, Chile on February 27, 2010 03:34:16 AM at epicenter. that's WAY worse than Haiti, this is going to be big news. Stay Tuned A tsunami warning was issued for Chile and Peru by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, and a tsunami watch was issued for Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica and Antarctica. Soon after, the center said the quake had generated a tsunami that may have been destructive along the Chilean coast near the epicenter. "Sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated," the center said on its website. "It may have been destructive along coasts near the earthquake epicenter and could also be a threat to more distant coasts." It did not have details on the size of the tsunami QC

The magnitude 8.5 earthquake struck 56 miles northeast of Concepcion, Chili at 1:34 am EST. and was originally logged as an 8.3 now they say 8.8 , Raw footage from CBS @ Reports more than 90 Dead - Developing The after shocks that followed in the form of tremors were measured at six point two and five point six on the scale and created a mass panic. The city of Santiago was in darkness as an electrical blackout ensued shortly after the quake which brought damage to the electric lines and the telephone lines. Communication was made extremely hard for those trying to get in touch with their families and friends in neighboring cities, towns and villages The earthquake which measured extremely high on the Richter Scale was registered at eight point eight. And was followed by two tremors which measured six point two and then five point six on the scale. The people of the cities surrounding the close vicinity of the epicenter came scurrying to the streets in panic and they could be seen crying and embracing each other, truly devastated by the incident that has rocked buildings as far away as those in the Andean provinces of Argentina. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a warning related to the Chile tsunami to the neighboring countries including Antarctica as well. On the other side of the ocean the Philippines’ Governments has also asked the coastal areas to evacuate their homes in fear that the Chile tsunami might make its way over and cause havoc. The countries warned by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center to watch out for the Chile tsunami include, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Chile and Peru. Apart from these locations even Hawaii, the American state has been issued a warning to be on a lookout for a possible tsunami. It is believed that the tsunami has already swept the coastline close to the epicenter which was positioned fifty-six miles northeast of the city of Concepcion which is one of the largest cities in Chile. The epicenter was estimated to be at a depth of twenty-two miles deep centered precisely at 90 km Northeast Concepcion, Chile with a depth of 55 km. Scale 8.3 earthquake was reported between SR and SR 8.5, before later confirmed by the USGS 8.8 SR QC
