We have shown flashes of greatness it's just that as soon as we put on foot forward, something comes along and makes us take two steps back.
But remember 2005 when we won 100 games, they were calling us the replacement killers because we could deal with all the injuries we had that year. Theres something in the clubhouse killing the chemistry. We need to get that back.Molina fractured his wrist the other night. Mike Shannon told KTRS he is expected to be out 6 weeks or so.
Just when we flashed a sign of positivity. Spezio left early also, the club said he was feeling ill.
Rick Horton had a good point that Gary bennett stepped up last year and now has the opportunity to do so again.
But it seems to me that we have limited options, we just released Eli Marrero like last week, and of the only other ones we can call up only one has ever started a major league game.Prince Fielder has as many homeruns as Duncan and Pujols combined. The top TWO homerun hitters for the Brewers have more than the entire Cardinals team.
With all the different injuries, with 4 of the starting pitchers having been full-time relievers last year, and with the overall poor play this year, I don't think they make the playoffs. They might not make .500. It will take a lot of different guys getting healthy and getting their games together at the same time for this team to turn into a playoff team. They had just barely enough last year to make the post season as the playoff team with the worst record ever. And I don't see that happening again this year. but i feel we will turn things around . Two things of note:
1) The Cardinals, even with the inconsistent play, are tied for SECOND in the NL Central.
2) The Cubs may already be melting down psychologically.

Wainwright was reminiscent of the closer from last year. He looked pretty good. Got hit a little, but he never got rattled. Kept his head in the game and just pitched his game.
Cards bats finally figured out how to deal with the Astros' pitchers in the 9th - scored 6 runs in the top half... nice to see the middle of the lineup really causing opposing pitching some concern...
and how 'bout the Meltdown in ChiTown?
We can still definitely make up ground. In this division anything can happen. Every team but the Brewers are right in line with where the Cardinals are. The Brewers! Come on now...they'll tank eventually and the Cardinals will be there to pick up the pieces.
as for what's killing that winning atmosphere. I think it started when the Cardinals failed to resign four of their 5 pitchers, two of whom were great in the playoffs. Then failed to sign anybody in the offseason to help improve the team. Then the only pitcher they had went down with an injury after one game. then the core of their lineup hit a month long slump.
It'll turn around and they'll pick up steam and before you know it all of these sportscasters and experts will be saying "I knew it and I told you so" The Cardinals are a repeat threat
.FIVE home runs in one game! Who would have thought it.
Cards are alone in second as of this afternoon! QC
