The Triple H vs. Randy Orton match originally planned for SummerSlam is now in jeopardy. According to one backstage source both Triple H and Vince McMahon agree it is not the right thing to do at this time.
ABOUT TIME SOME REAL NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!
Triple H is pushing for Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship from John Cena. Internally the thought is that Cena doesn’t need the belt to get over because he gets resentment boos for being a champion. The feeling is more money will be made in Cena chasing Orton for the title in comparison to where he beats him all the time while he holds the title.
Look for the Triple H vs. Randy Orton match to happen at either Survivor Series or WrestleMania.
USA Network has talked of wanting Raw to increase to three hours in the fall. The belief is that is guarantees the network one extra hour of very high ratings every week, thus enabling them to maintain their status of being the most watched network on cable television.
The thought process being the move is that if Raw starts at 8 p.m. more often, people will get used to tuning into Raw at that time, and it will lead to higher ratings in the second hour in particular.
They also made the suggestion of Steve Austin and Undertaker being regulars on the show, even if they can't wrestle. On the WWE front, they aren't too keen on making Raw a three hour show, every single week. They think this is the last thing they need. Although, if they go through with the move, they'll likely get a rate increase from USA.
Tonight’s event is a Supershow with SmackDown being taped before RAW goes live from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. As of right now there is no official word on what they will be doing for Tuesday’s ECW TV however several ECW superstars are confirmed to be at the taping. As noted in the preview Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella will face the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga on RAW.
WWE has officially released the promotional poster for their “Biggest Party of the Summer”, SummerSlam. It features the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga and characters from MTV’s Jackass. You can check it out by clicking here. This years SummerSlam will take place on August 26, 2007 at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Jim Ross has updated his blog at www.jrsbarbq.com today. In this edition, JR speaks on his upcoming fishing trip with Steve Austin, Rey Mysterio's return and Ric Flair being inducted into the hall of fame in 2008.
Fishing Trip With Austin
I had a few conversations with Steve Austin this week, which is not that unusual, and we are planning a fishing trip soon on his South Texas Ranch. We also might even do a little hog hunting, as wild hogs are all over Steve’s huge place and are more destructive that would one ever imagine. Steve was scheduled to do an interview this week with Adam Sandler and Kevin James about their new movie, which looks to be really funny. I am anxious to hear how the interview went. Kevin James is an old college classmate of Mick Foley from back in the day when Mick was a student of both academia and wrestling, which was so well documented in Mick’s first book.
On Ric Flair Being Inducted Into Hall of Fame
Lots of speculation about Ric Flair going into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 in Orlando. Nothing has been confirmed, but there is obviously no doubt that "Naitch" is Hall of Fame worthy, if any one ever was. Again, I will wait for Ric to make the announcement about his wrestling future before I run with a story that is unfounded. Nonetheless, when I am asked which Flair matches I most remember, I always think of his Mid South Wrestling issues with Ted DiBiase, Dick Murdoch, and JYD among others. Later on when I went to work for the dysfunctional WCW, Ric’s ordeals with Terry Funk and Ricky Steamboat were classics as well. Naturally, these are not all the super matches, the greatest living wrestler was involved in, but these are the ones that I can remember as if they were just a few days ago. Ric donated a beautiful pair of red, patent leather boots he signed for us to display in J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q. Talk about cool!
On the Return of Rey Mysterio
I hear that Rey Mysterio is improving and that we might see the high flying masked grappler back in the ring by summer's end or before, if we are lucky. I suggest to you that Rey will be better than ever, as he has had a chance to heal from not only his surgically repaired knee, but other nagging injuries as well. Rey Mysterio completely dispels the myth that an athlete has to be of a particular size to "make it" in the big time. Talent combined with opportunity have lead to Rey's spectacular success. Rey's popularity is amazing and the Latino star has as passionate a fan base as anyone in the WWE has had in decades.

It appears that MVP will be getting ready sooner than later to face a brand new challenger for his WWE United States Championship.
Only one week after he defeated the legendary 16-time World Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair at Vengeance, MVP was handed a non-title loss to "The Big Red Machine" Kane on Smackdown this week. This could be the start of a longer running feud for MVP, with a possible match against Kane with the US Championship on the line down the road, especially considering these comments in an article on WWE.com regarding MVP's loss to Kane this week:
Unfortunately for MVP, he may have to see more of Kane, especially since The Big Red Machine pinned his shoulders 1-2-3 in a non-title match on SmackDown. The U.S. Champion solidified his hold on the gold when he defeated the legendary “Nature Boy” Ric Flair at Vengeance: Night of Champions but will he be forced to face the man he fears most, Kane, with the championship on the line?
If one was to hazard a guess, MVP could be forced to defend his championship against the former WWE Champion at the upcoming Great American Bash PPV, which is the next big event for the company in July right before Summerslam. Will MVP be able to hold back the title advances of "The Big Red Machine", or will Kane experience his first singles championship since he won the Intercontinental Championship from "Y2J" Chris Jericho back in September of 2002?
Two main events have been scheduled for this month’s Great American Bash pay-per-view. As of right now WWE Champion John Cena will face Bobby Lashley and WWE World Champion Edge will take on Rey Mysterio. This will of course be Rey Mysterio’s Return match.
The Great American Bash will be on July 22nd at the HP Pavilion Arena in San Jose, California.
